George Montgomery Sanctuary, Brome-Missisquoi, Montérégie Un Viréo à tête bleue observé à 12 h 40 au sanctuaire George montgomeryà Saint-Arrmand. About halfway from the parking area to the feeders, a bird flew past and landed nearby. I first noticed the head, which was gray, with white throat and spectacles, and a thick black bill. I squeaked a bit and the bird came closer and into the open, at which point I noted that it was light below-- whitish, with brighter yellow on the sides-- and olive on the back. I also noted two distinct whitish wing bars. The bird was clearly a vireo by size and shape, and Blue-headed based on plumage characteristics. I observed the bird for about 30 seconds at a distance of 10 meters or less with my Zeiss 10X40 binoculars. I'm 100% certain of the ID, though I was surprised to see vireo so late in the year."
